New Years Resolution Statistics

Here are some New Years resolution statistics.

40 to 45% of American adult make one or more resolutions each year.

Among the top new years resolutions are resolutions about weight loss, exercise, and stopping to smoke. Also popular are resolutions dealing with better money management / debt reduction.

The following shows how many of these resolutions are maintained as time goes on:
- past the first week: 75%
- past 2 weeks: 71%
- after one month: 64%
- after 6 months: 46%

While a lot of people who make new years resolutions do break them, research shows that making resolutions is useful. People who explicitly make resolutions are 10 times more likely to attain their goals than people who don't explicitly make resolutions.

3 Ways to Instantly Enjoy Exercising

1. Redefine What Exercise Is
Exercise doesn't have to just mean "going to the gym". Expand your options, try martial arts, dancing, or maybe even Geo-caching.

2. Make it Enjoyable
The number one criteria for what exercises you're going to do needs to be what is enjoyable for me. Choose some forms of movement and exertion that you enjoy doing.

3. Make it Comfortable
Don't choose an exercise plan that makes you feel like you're gonna pass out, or that makes you sore for a week. Make it something that is comfortable and you'll find it much easier to continue doing it.

Holiday Weight Loss Tip

One holiday weight loss tip trumps them all, and it has nothing to do with half portions or drinking more water. If you really want to stay in control this holiday season then you owe it to yourself to do this.

The tip is this...
Change your perception of what the holiday season is. Do not fall into the trap of accepting that you'll gain weight because of the holidays. Statistics show that the average person gains only a pound during the holidays.

But you don't even have to accept that.
Live the holidays on your own terms.

Decide that you'll not only drop a few pounds this season, but you'll do it in a way that lets you have more fun during the holidays than you've ever had before.
Experience the immense power and motivation that comes with making this positive decision.
